Joan La was born about 1281 in Harringworth, Northamptonshire, England. Joan La's father was Eudo (Eon) La Zouche and her mother was Millicent De Cantilupe. Her paternal grandparents were Sir Knight Alan La Zouche Sir Knight and Elena De Helen De Quincy; her maternal grandparents were William De Cantilupe and Eva Braose. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named William La, Roger La, George La, Eudes La, Emery La, Philip La, Thomas La, Elizabeth La, Lucy La and Eve La. She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. She had a half-sister named Ellen (Eleanor) La. She died in 1352.General Notes
