Rutpert von was born about 0730 in Thurgau, Bavaria, Germany.  Rutpert von's father was Rutpert I Count of Upper Rhine & Wormgau and his mother was Williswint von Wormsgau.  His paternal grandparents were Lantbertus (Lambert) II von Palatine and Chrotlind de Neustria; his maternal grandfather was Adelheim Count of Wormgau. He had two brothers named Guerin Count of and Turincbertus.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died after 0782.
