Miss de was born about 1106 in Windsor, Berkshire, England.  Miss de's father was Gerald of Windsor , Constable of Pembroke Castle and her mother was Nest verch Rhys , Heiress of Carew.  Her maternal grandparents were Rhys ap Tewdwr , King of Deheubarth and Gwladus verch Rhiwallon. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, Maurice and Hadewise de.  She was the youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Robert de, Henry and Maud of.
