Ailwin Sheriff of Warwickshire 
Ailwin Sheriff of was born in 1030. Ailwin Sheriff of's father was Wigot and his mother was Erminhild of Mercia. His paternal grandfather was Wulfgeat; his maternal grandparents were Leofric III Earl of Mercia and Lady Godiva Godgifu. He was an only child.General Notes
Ailwin was the Vice-Comes, or Sheriff of Warwickshire. Alwyne is styled "Alvinus Vicecomes" in the General Survey, and "The reason thereof," observes Dugdale, "I conceive to be either because he did exercise the power and authority of the Earls of Mercia in Warwick as his ancestors had done, for which respect he and they have been reputed earls, as I have ranckt them in that degree, or else that he hath the custody of the county to the king's immediate use."
He had a biological son named Turchill.
