Ela (Adela) de was born about 1170 in Lewes, Sussex, England.  Ela (Adela) de's father was Hamelin Plantagenet , 5th Earl of Surrey and her mother was Isabel de Warenne , Heiress of Surrey.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey IV Plantagenet , Comte d'Anjou and Adelaide of Angers; her maternal grandparents were William de Warenne , 3rd Earl of Surrey and Ela de Talvas , d'Alencon. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William de, Geoffrey, Maud Plantagenet de and Suzanne Plantagenet de.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died about 1220.
