Walter de was born about 1080 in Fordington, Lincolnshire, England.  Walter de's father was Gilbert de Gand , Lord of Folkingham and his mother was Alice Countess de Montfort.  His paternal grandparents were Ralph de Gand , Sire d'Alost and Gisele of Luxembourg; his maternal grandparents were Hugh II Count de Montfort and Alice de Beauffou. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Hugh de, Peter de, Felia de, Emma de and Agnes de.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died in 1139.


Walter de's first family with Matilda (Maud) de Brittany

‌Walter de and Matilda (Maud) de were married in a religious ceremony before 1120.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Gilbert de, Robert de, Miss de and Alice de.


Walter de's second family with Unknown 1st Wife or Mistress

They had a son and a daughter, named William de and Agnes de.
