William de was born about 1125 in Knaresborough Castle, Yorkshire, England.  William de's father was Eustace FitzJohn , of Alnwick, Constable Cheshire and his mother was Beatrix de Vescy.  His paternal grandparents were John "One Eye" Monoculus , of Saxlingham and Magdalen; his maternal grandparents were Yves (John) de Vescy and Alda Tyson , Heiress of Alnwick & Malton. He had a half-brother named Richard FitzEustace Lord.  He died before September 1183 in Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, England.  He was buried in Alnwick Abbey, Northumberland, England.

‌William de and Burga de were married in a religious ceremony before 1169.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Warine de, Eustace de and Maud de.
