Raoul I was born about 1073 in Valois, Bretagne, France.  Raoul I's father was [Count Vermandois- Duke Burgndy] Hugh 'The Great' Crepi [Count Vermandois- Duke Burgndy] and his mother was [Countess] Adelaide De Vermandois [Countess].  His paternal grandparents were [King] Henry I Capet King Of France [King] and [Queen France] Anna Agnesa Yaroslavna Of Kiev [Queen France]; his maternal grandparents were Herbert IV Count Of Vermandois and Adele Of Valois Vexin. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Henry, Simon De, William De, Son De, Agnes De, Maud (Matilda) De, Emma Avice De, Constance De, Beatrice De, Isabel Elizabeth De and Daughter De.  He was the third oldest of the twelve children.  He died on October 14th, 1152.  He was buried in St Arnoul, Crepy.
