Alice de was born about 1083 in Hedingham, Essex, England. Alice de's father was Alberic de Vere , Sheriff of Berkshire and her mother was Beatrice. Her paternal grandparents were Alphonso de Vere , Count of Ghesnes and Katherine of Flanders. She had a brother and a sister, named Aubrey II de and Rohese de. She was the oldest of the three children.
