He had two brothers and five sisters, named Hermann Count of, Gozelon I Duke of Lower, Adelheid of, Regilla de, Gerberge of, Ermentrude de and Irmgard de.  He was the third youngest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers named Arnold II Count of and Jean de.
