Ranulf de was born in 1145 in Gilsland, Irthington, Cumberland, England. Ranulf de's father was Robert de Vaux , Lord of Gillesland and his mother was Ada d' Engaine , Heiress of Burgh-by-Sands. He had a brother named Herbert de. He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Hugh de and Ada de. He died at the age of 53 in 1198 in Gilsland, Irthington, Cumberland, England.General Notes
