John de was born about 1215 in Freiston, Boston, Lincolnshire, England.  John de's father was Oliver Vaux , Justice Itinerant and his mother was Petronilla de Craon.  His paternal grandfather was Robert Vaux; his maternal grandparents were Guy de Craon and Isabella Basset. He had two brothers named Roger and William de.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Henry de.  He died in 1287 in Walton, Norfolk, England.
