Denys Gerretse was born in 1668 in New Amsfoort Kings Co. New York. Denys Gerretse's father was Gerret Cornellissen Van Duyn and his mother was Jacomina Jacobs Swart. His paternal grandparents were Cornelius Gerrits Van Duyn and Machtelje Huyken; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Swart and Teuntje Jacobs. He was an only child. He died at the age of 61 in 1729 in Flatbush Kings New York.-
