Robert de was born about 1157 in Castle Prudhoe, Northumberland, England. Robert de's father was Odinel II de Umfreville , Lord of Prudhoe and his mother was Alice de Lucy. His paternal grandfather was Odinel I de Umfreville , Baron of Prudhoe; his maternal grandparents were Richard "The Loyal" de Lucy , Justiciar-England and Rohese FitzRichard de Clare. He had a brother and two sisters, named Richard de, Margery de and Alice de. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died about 1195.-
