Alice de was born about 1161 in Prudhoe, Hexham, Northumberland, England. Alice de's father was Odinel II de Umfreville , Lord of Prudhoe and her mother was Alice de Lucy. She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert de, Richard de and Margery de. She was the second youngest of the four children.
They had a son named Roger II.
