TREGOZ (of Goring)
Observations. The relationship which undoubtedly existed between Tregoz of Essex and Tregoz of Goring is not known, for these families appear as separate units in the 1st half of the 12th century [Probably the Tregoz of Ewyas Harold are also related. The name comes from Troisgots: Manche, arr. St Lo, Normandy.].
GEOFFREY TREGOZ of Goring, Sussex, witnessed two charters of William, Earl of Lincoln, who soon afterwards exchanged that Earldom for the Earldom of Arundel, in 1139-40. [Complete Peerage XII/2:22, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)

He had issue, with four daughters, whose names are unascertained, a son and heir. His wife survived, and was living his widow 32nd Hen. II. 1185-6, when she held the manor of Dunstable, then valued at 12?. per ann. His son and heir was William. [The Topographer and Genealogist, Volume II, 1853]

Note: Dave Utzinger's source indicates that John de Tregoz, of Goring, was a younger son of William, d. aft 1140. However CP believes that John is son of a Geoffrey (whose dates fits closely with the Geoffrey, son of William who is in Dave Utzing's line). Therefore I believe that John is son of Geoffrey who is son of William; thus merging together the CP and Utzinger line.
