Waldelf was born before 1086 in Hepple, Rothbury, Northumberland, England. Waldelf's father was Ives (Ivo) de Taillebois , 1st Baron of Kendal and his mother was Judith of Lens. His paternal grandparents were Geoffroy II "Ferreol" Count of Gatinais and Ermengarde d' Anjou. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named William de, Beatrice de, Matilda de and Alice de. He died in 1161.-
