Imilia of was born about 1032 in Susa, Piedmont, Italy.  Imilia of's father was Ulric Manfredo II Count of Susa Marquis of Turin and her mother was Berthe of Este.  Her paternal grandparents were Manfred I Count of Susa & Turin and Prangorda Di Reggio; her maternal grandparents were Oberto II Count of Genoa & Tortone & Este and Railende of Como. She had four sisters named Adelaide of, Beatrice of, Ermengarde of and Bertha of.  She was the youngest of the five children.
