William Sinclair , 1st Lord of Rosslyn 
William was born about 1028 in St Clair-sur-Elle, Manche, Normandy, France. William's father was Mauger Seigneur de St. Clair and his mother was Miss St. Clair de Bassenville. He had a brother named Walderne de. He was the younger of the two children. He died in 1078 in Killed by English in Northumberland, England.General Notes

William, The Seemly, 1st Baron of Rosslyn, accompanied the family of Edward the Atheling from Hungary to England 1057. Fought then for Malcolm II with the English rebels who supported the Atheling for King of England. He was later killed by troops fo his cousin William the Conqueror on the Scottish borders in Northumberland. Given Rosslyn by Malcolm for life rent.
