Herve de was born about 1005 in Semur-en-Auxois, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne, France. Herve de's father was Geoffrey II Comte de Semur and his mother was Maud (Matilda\Mahaut) de Chalon. His paternal grandfather was Geoffrey I Comte de Semur; his maternal grandparents were Lambert d' Autun , Count of Chalon and Adelaide of Burgundy. He had two brothers named Thibault Comte de and Dalmas I Comte de. He was the youngest of the three children. He died in 1055.-
