Joan Le was born about 1340 in Masham, Richmond, Yorkshire, England. Joan Le's father was Of Masham, Sir Henry 1St Baron Le Scrope Of Masham, Sir and her mother was [Baroness Scrope] Joan Of Yorkshire [Baroness Scrope]. Her paternal grandparents were [Sir Knight] Geoffrey Le Scrope [Sir Knight] and Ivetta (Juetta) De Ros Juetta. She had six brothers and a sister, named Geoffrey Le, Stephen 2Nd Baron Le, Henry Le, William Le, Richard Le, John Le and Isabella. She was the second oldest of the eight children.
