Duncan I MacCrinan King of was born in 1001 in Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland.  Duncan I MacCrinan King of's father was Crinan the Thane Lay Abbot of Dunkeld and his mother was Bethoc (Beatrix) Princess of Scotland.  His paternal grandfather was Duncan Lay Abbot of Dunkeld; his maternal grandparents were Malcolm II MacKenneth King of Scotland and Edith. He had a brother and a sister, named Maldred Lord of Carlisle & and Miss de.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 39 on August 14th, 1040 in Elgin, Morayshire, Scotland (killed by Macbeth).
