Maud de was born about 1155 in Kimbolton, Norfolk, England. Maud de's father was William II de Say , of Sawbridgeworth and her mother was Aufrica of Huntingdon. Her maternal grandparents were Henry Earl of Huntingdon , Prince of Scotland and Ada de Warenne. She had a sister named Beatrix de. She was the older of the two children.
