Louis de was born about 1244 in Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. Louis de's father was Thomas de Savoie , Count of Flanders and his mother was Beatrice Fieschi. His paternal grandparents were Thomas (Tomaso) I Count of Savoy and Margaret (Beatrice) of Geneva; his maternal grandparents were Tedisio Conte di Lavagna and Vigolan di Capocorso. He was an only child. He died in 1302.-
