Luitgard was born about 0900 in Ringleheim, Goslar, Hannover, Germany. Luitgard's father was Theodoric I Count of Ringleheim and her mother was Ludmilla Ragnhildis. She had two sisters named Amalrada and Mathilda of. She was the youngest of the three children.
