Llewelyn Ddiriaid ap was born about 1090.  Llewelyn Ddiriaid ap's father was Rhys ap Tewdwr , King of Deheubarth and his mother was Catrin verch Iestyn. He had a brother named Hywel ap.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Gruffudd ap, Nest verch and Margred verch.
