Gwenllian II verch was born about 1135 in Aberffraw Castle, Angelesey, Wales.  Gwenllian II verch's father was Owain Gwynedd ap Gruffudd , King of Gwynedd and her mother was Gwladus verch Llywarch. She had a brother and two sisters, named Iorwerth Drwyndwn ap, Gwenllian verch and Margred verch Owain.  She was the youngest of the four children. She had a half-sister named Angharad verch.
