Gronw ap was born about 1073 in Tegaingl, Flintshire, Wales. Gronw ap's father was Owain ap Edwin and his mother was Morwyl verch Ednywain. His paternal grandparents were Edwin ap Gronwy and Iwerydd verch Cynfyn; his maternal grandparents were Ednywain I ap Neiniad and Gwerful verch Lluddica. He had a sister named Angharat verch. He was the younger of the two children. He died in 1124.-
