Gautier II was born in 0944 in Vexin, Normandy, France.  Gautier II's father was Count Walter OF VALOIS Gautier I and his mother was Countess Adele DE VEXIN OF ANJOU.  His maternal grandparents were Count Fulk I "The Red" OF ANJOU and Roscilla DE LOCHES DE LA HAYE.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 83 in 1027.
