Robert was born in 0916. Robert's father was Count/ Hurbert II OF VERMANDOIS and his mother was Adela DE PARIS OF NEUSTRIA. His paternal grandparents were Count Herbert I DE VERMANDOIS & SENLIS and Bertha OF MORVOIS; his maternal grandparents were King/ Robert I OF FRANCE and Adele DE BOURGES. He had a brother and two sisters, named Albert I "The Pious", Adele and Luitgarde. He was the second youngest of the four children.
They had a daughter named Adelaide.
