Gertrud Billunger was born in 1028. Gertrud Billunger's father was Duke Bernhard II OF SAXONY and her mother was Elica VON SCHWEINFURT. Her paternal grandparents were Duke Bernhard Billung II OF SAXONY and Hildeburg VON STADE; her maternal grandparents were Count Henry VON SCHWINFURT and Gerberge OF HENNEBURG. She had a brother and a sister, named Ordulf and Ida. She was the second oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 85 in 1113 in Flanders, Belguim.General Notes
About 1020 Richard II, Duke of Normandy, places Ralph and hisson Roger, along with others, in charge of the castle ofTillieres to hold it against Odo of Chartres, the Duke'sbrother-in-law, who had revolted. Odo attacked the castle butwas routed and barely escaped with his life.
