About 1020 Richard II, Duke of Normandy, places Ralph and hisson Roger, along with others, in charge of the castle ofTillieres to hold it against Odo of Chartres, the Duke'sbrother-in-law, who had revolted. Odo attacked the castle butwas routed and barely escaped with his life.
‌Theobald and Bertha were married in a religious ceremony in 0898. They had three sons and a daughter, named Ugo, Boso Of Tuscany, Hugh Of Italy and Teuberga Of Lorraine.
