Hugo V Count was born about 0932 in Metz, Moselle, France.  Hugo V Count's father was Eberhard IV Alscanian Nordgau and his mother was Luitgard Von Tier.  His paternal grandparents were [Count Of] Hugo III Count Of Alsace [Count Of] and Hildegarde De Ferrett; his maternal grandparents were Wigerich Of Trier & Ardennes Count Of Triesgau and Kunigunde Of The West Franks (Princess). He had four brothers and a sister, named Albrecht, Count In, Gerard, Adalbert II Saargau-Longwy, Eberhard and Hedwig Von.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died before 0986.
