Alan de was born about 1205 in Moulton, Spalding, Lincolnshire, England.  Alan de's father was Thomas II de Multon , Sir and his mother was Sarah de Flete.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas I de Multon and Eleanor de Boston; his maternal grandparents were Richard de Flete and Juliane. He had a brother named Lambert de.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother named Thomas III de.  He died after 1250 in Copeland, Cumberland, England.

‌Alan de and Alice de were married in a religious ceremony before 1219.  They had a son and a daughter, named Thomas de and Joan de.
