Joan de was born about 1248 in Axholme, Lincolnshire, England.  Joan de's father was Roger de Mowbray , Baron of Axholme and her mother was Maud de Beauchamp.  Her paternal grandparents were William de Mowbray , Baron of Axholme, MCS and Avice (Agnes) d' Aubigny; her maternal grandparents were William Baron de Beauchamp , of Bedford, Sir and Ida (Idonea) Longespee. She had a brother and a sister, named Roger 1st Baron de and Elizabeth de.  She was the youngest of the three children.  She died before 1316 in Castle Rising, Norfolk, England.

‌Joan de and Robert de were married in a religious ceremony about 1261.  They had a daughter named Isabel de.
