Maud de was born about 1134 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.  Maud de's father was Hugh de Mortimer , Lord of Wigmore and her mother was Maud Longespic of Normandy.  Her paternal grandparents were Ralph de Mortimer and Milicent Ferrers; her maternal grandparents were William Clito of William Clito Count , Count of Flanders/, Claimed Normandy/Normandy and Jeanne de Montferrat. She had a brother named Hugh de.  She was the younger of the two children.
