Robert de was born about 1031 in Mortagne-au-Perche, Orne, Normandy, France.  Robert de's father was Harlevin (Herlouin) Vicomte de Conteville and his mother was Herleve (Arlette) de Falaise. He had a brother and three sisters, named Odo Bishop of, Emma de, Muriel de and Miss de.  He was the second oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named William I "The Conqueror" King of and Adelaide of.  He died on December 8th, 1095 in Abbey of St. Grestain, Normandy, France.
