Andre de was born about 1053 in Ramerupt, Aube, Champagne, France.  Andre de's father was Hildouin IV de Rameru Comte de Montdidier and his mother was Alice (Alix) de Roucy. He had a brother and seven sisters, named Ebles II Comte de, Margaret de, Adela de, Adelheid de, Ada de, Beatrice de, Felice of and Ada de.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.
