Drew de was born about 1183 in Shepton Montagu, Bishopstone, Somerset, England. Drew de's father was William I de Montagu , Sir Knight and his mother was Isabel. His paternal grandparents were Drew de Montagu , Sir Knight and Aliva Basset. He was an only child. He died before 1216 in (dvp).General Notes
William Montacute recovered all of the lands which his father had lost, but in the 7th of Henry III (1233), he also had his lands distrained, by virtue of the king's precept, for omitting to repair to court at the feast of Whitsuntide, as required by law, there to receive the dignity of Knighthood. But the next year, on doing his homage, he was by the sheriff of Somerset and Dorset reinstated in his possessions. He died 31st Henry III (1247), leaving issue, William, his son and heir.
