William Montacute recovered all of the lands which his father had lost, but in the 7th of Henry III (1233), he also had his lands distrained, by virtue of the king's precept, for omitting to repair to court at the feast of Whitsuntide, as required by law, there to receive the dignity of Knighthood. But the next year, on doing his homage, he was by the sheriff of Somerset and Dorset reinstated in his possessions. He died 31st Henry III (1247), leaving issue, William, his son and heir. Note: Burke's Peerage names him Drew, not William Montacute, 1st husband of Aline Basset and "ancestor of the Montagu Earls of Salisbury", dvp by 1216.
