William le was born about 1078 in Gernon Castle, Normandy, France.  William le's father was Ranulph le Meschin , Viscount of Bayeux and his mother was Margaret d' Avranches , Heiress of Chester. He had a brother and a sister, named Ranulph le and Matilda le.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died in 1130 in of Egrement & Copeland, Cumberland, England.
