Thomas was born in 1583 in Gt. Bentley, Essex, England and his baptism took place in 1583 in St Michaels Chur, Ramsey, Essex, Eng.. Thomas' father was Edward M Marvin and his mother was Margaret. His paternal grandparents were Reinhold Marvin and Mrs. Johan Mervyn. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Edward, Richard, Robert, John, Reinhold, Matthew, Margaret or Merwyn, Mary (Marie), Margaret, Elizabeth and Hannah.
