Joan was born about 1208 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, England.  Joan's father was William Marshal , 3rd Earl of Pembroke and her mother was Isabel de Clare , Countess of Pembroke.  Her paternal grandparents were John "The Marshal" FitzGilbert and Sibyl de Salisbury; her maternal grandparents were Richard Strongbow de Clare , 2nd Earl Pembroke and Eve (Aoife) MacMurrough. She had a brother and four sisters, named William, Sibyl, Maud, Eva and Isabel.  She was the youngest of the six children.  She died before November 1234.


Joan's family with Warin de Munchensy , Lord of Swanscomb

‌Joan and Warin de were married in a religious ceremony after May 14th, 1219 in 1st wife.  They had a son and a daughter, named John de and Joan de.
