Gruffudd ap was born about 1095 in Wales. Gruffudd ap's father was Maredudd ap Bleddyn and his mother was Hunydd verch Einudd. His paternal grandparents were Bleddyn "Sais" ap Cynfyn , Prince of Powys and Haer verch Cynillin; his maternal grandparents were Einudd ap Morien and Efa verch Llewelyn. He had a brother named Madog ap. He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother named Iorwerth "Goch" ap. He died in 1128.-
