William de Braose VI was born about 1230. William de Braose VI's father was John de Braose Tadody Lord Gower & Swansea and his mother was Marared Drwyndon verch Llywelyn Fawr of Wales. His maternal grandmother was Joanna of England. He had two brothers named John and Sir Richard. He had a half-sister named Maud.General Notes

It's about midway between Torino (Turin) and Milano (Milan) and south of the Po River. The old capital is now the city of "Casale Monferrato" and, if geographical coordinates help any, that city is at 45 08 N and 8 27 E. In italian province of Alessandria.

Earl Richard de Clare paid the William the Marquis 4,000 marks to secure the marriage, and allowed him a choice of brides in addition. Since Isabel was about eighteen and her surviving sisters each less than eight years old, the choice must have been easy.
