Gruffudd "Maelor" ap was born about 1133 in Maelor, Wales. Gruffudd "Maelor" ap's father was Madog ap Maredudd , King of Powys and his mother was Susanna verch Gruffudd. His paternal grandparents were Maredudd ap Bleddyn and Hunydd verch Einudd; his maternal grandparents were Gruffudd ap Cynan , King of Gwynedd and Angharat verch Owain. He had two sisters named Marared verch and Gwenllian verch. He was the youngest of the three children. He died in 1191.-
