Alice de was born about 1207 in Copeland, Cumberland, England.  Alice de's father was Richard de Lucy , Lord of Copeland and her mother was Ada de Morville.  Her paternal grandparents were Reynold de Lucy , of Copeland & Egremont and Amabel FitzWilliam , Heiress of Copeland; her maternal grandparents were Hugh de Morville , of Burgh & Knaresborough and Hawise (Heloise) de Stuteville. She had a brother and a sister, named Richard de and Amabel de.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had a half-brother named Thomas III de.

‌Alice de and Alan de were married in a religious ceremony before 1219.  They had a son and a daughter, named Thomas de and Joan de.
