Godfrey de was born about 1173 in Louvain, Brabant, Lorraine, France. Godfrey de's father was Godfrey III Count of Louvain , Duke of Brabant and his mother was Imaine of Loos. His paternal grandparents were Godfrey II Count of Louvain , Duke of Brabant and Luitgarde of Sulzbach; his maternal grandparents were Louis I Count of Rieneck & Loos and Agnes Von Metz , Heiress of Longwy. He had a half-brother named Henry I Duke of. He died on April 26th, 1226 in Eye Castle, Suffolk, England.General Notes
Godfrey, of Louvain, or in Anglo-Norman French "de Lovaine", custodian of his half-brother Duke Henry I of Brabant's lands in England (chiefly the Castle and Honour of Eye in Suffolk), which came to the latter (Henry) by his wife; joined the Baronial party opposed to King John. [Burke's Peerage]
