Simon I Duke de was born in 1072 in Lorraine, France. Simon I Duke de's father was Thierry II Duke of Alsace Lorraine and his mother was Hedwig von Formbach. His paternal grandparents were Gerhard IV Duke of Alsace Upper Lorraine and Hadwide de Namur; his maternal grandparents were Frederick von Formbach Count of Formbach and Gertrude of Saxony. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Thierry III of, Lothair III Holy Roman, Gertrude of and Gisela of. He died at the age of 66 on April 19th, 1138.-
