Gisela of was born about 1050 in Lorraine, France.  Gisela of's father was Gerhard IV Duke of Alsace Upper Lorraine and her mother was Hadwide de Namur.  Her maternal grandparents were Albert II Count of Namur and Ermengarde of Lower Lorraine. She had three brothers and a sister, named Thierry II Duke of Alsace, Dietrich II Duke of Upper, Gerard I Count of and Beatrice de.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died in 1124.
